The Drabble Day Challenge is a weekly challenge hosted by http://thewriteaholicblog.wordpress.com/ and it involves writing a Drabble (a short story of 100 words, plus or minus 5) based around a particular prompt. This week’s prompt was “SHOE”.
Admiral Threel sat in his command chair on the bridge of the Mailed Fist; watching his forces deploying on the planet below. Personnel carriers full of shock troops hung above the city awaiting their leader’s orders, not daring to ‘jump the gun’.
The rebels poured out of their defensive positions; and Admiral Threel waited, wanting his first strike to be decisive. As he opened his mouth to give the order to attack, there was a faint pop. The communications officer turned around, aghast. “Sir… We’ve blown a fuse…” The Admiral screamed with frustration, knowing that for the want of a nail the shoe was lost…
