The Drabble Day Challenge is a weekly challenge hosted by http://thewriteaholicblog.wordpress.com/ and it involves writing a Drabble (a short story of 100 words, plus or minus 5) based around a particular prompt. This week’s prompt was “PAINT”.
He is shielded. He is always shielded. A myriad of buzzing drones pack the air above him. Enhanced ‘personal assistants’ surround him. Any vantage point is checked and double checked.
But, he has a weakness.
The ruler of the continent has a son; the apple of his eye, and today is his eighth birthday…
Coco the Clown, securely tied and gagged, struggles, but I ignore him. With a steady hand I finish the face paint and stick on the bright red nose.
I stand up, give myself one last check in the mirror, and then head out to start a revolution.
