Drabble Day – Lure

The Drabble Day Challenge is a weekly challenge hosted by http://thewriteaholicblog.wordpress.com/ and it involves writing a Drabble (a short story of 100 words, plus or minus 5) based around a particular prompt. This week’s prompt was “Lure”.

The little girl was gorgeous, about seven or eight, curly blonde hair, just Joe’s type.

She came close to the car and, with one well-rehearsed motion, Joe slapped an ether-soaked rag over her face and swung her into the passenger seat. He calmly pulled out of the car park and headed for home.

The eyes of the PedoLure1000 snapped open. Once it had confirmed that an abduction had occurred, it sat up and opened its hands. Ten scalpel sharp blades extended from its delicate fingers.

Humming to himself Joe looked over to the passenger seat. His eyes opened wide and he began screaming…

Dennis M. Lane is a British writer who left the shores of the UK in 1986 and hasn’t looked back since; he has now lived in South Africa for eleven years. His first poetry collection “8 Million Stories” was published in November 2010, followed by the collection of science fiction poetry and short stories “The Poring Dark” in September 2012 (two of the poems have been nominated for the 2013 Rhysling Award and another for the Dwarf Stars Award), his first novel “Talatu” in March 2013, and “The King’s Jewel” the first book in the five novel “Helix Key” series in August 2013.
